Who writes for The Englishman
Everything published in The Englishman Journal is written and checked in-house. We do not commission generic content, and we do not publish anything we have not read twice.
The Englishman Editorial Team
We are a small clothing brand based in Broadstairs, Kent, operated by Andrew Gifford Ltd. Our writing covers three areas, and we stay inside them:
- English history and symbols — the cross of St George, the three lions, and the flags and feast days attached to them.
- Dress and construction — how garments are cut, what premium cotton actually means, how to wear English detailing without it reading as costume.
- The brand itself — what we make, why, and how we work.
Our approach to accuracy
Historical claims in our articles are checked against standard reference sources before publication. Where a point is contested — the dragon legend, the lions-or-leopards question — we say so rather than picking the tidier version.
Where we write about our own garments, we describe what we actually know about them. If we cannot verify a specification, we do not print it.
Corrections
If you spot an error, tell us. We would rather fix it than leave it standing. Write to us via the contact page and we will correct the article and note the change.
